Therapeutic counselling with Aleye

Making sense of the things life throws at us.

Perhaps you’re here because…

Something has changed. Maybe a relationship is difficult, something from the past keeps finding its way into the present, or life just doesn’t feel quite like it used to. You might know exactly what’s troubling you, or you might only know that something doesn’t feel right.

You don’t need to have it all figured out before coming to counselling. We can start with what you do know — even if that’s simply, “I’m not really sure where to begin.”

Hello, I’m Aleye.

I’m a therapeutic counsellor, but the way I work begins with something quite simple; meeting you as a person, not a problem to be fixed.

My approach is person-centred and trauma-informed, which means our work is shaped by your experiences, your pace and what matters to you. I won’t tell you how you should feel or hand you a ready-made answer. We’ll make sense of what’s happening together, including the parts that may feel complicated, contradictory or difficult to put into words.

What can we talk about?

Counselling can make room for all sorts of conversations. You might want to talk about:

  • Anxiety, worry or feeling overwhelmed
  • Relationships, separation or difficulties with others
  • Grief, loss and significant life changes
  • Difficult or painful past experiences
  • Identity, self-worth and questions bout who you are
  • Feeling stuck, disconnected or unsure what comes next
  • Patterns that keep repeating, even when you understand them
  • Something that’s simply difficult to carry on your own

What might counselling with me be like?

You won’t be expected to arrive knowing exactly what you want to say. Some sessions may begin with something that happened that week. Others might take us somewhere you hadn’t expected.

I’ll listen, ask questions and sometimes gently draw attention to something I’m noticing. We might sit with an uncomfortable feeling, explore a pattern that keeps showing up, or look more closely at the way past experiences are shaping what’s happening now.

There isn’t a right way to do counselling here. You can think out loud, change your mind, contradict yourself, laugh, get frustrated, go quiet or say, “I don’t know.” We can work with all of that.

How sessions work

I offer counselling online and by phone, so you can choose the format that works best for you.

Sessions are 50 minutes and usually take place weekly, although we can talk about what feels appropriate for you.

Before deciding whether you’d like to begin counselling, I offer a free initial consultation. It’s an opportunity for us to talk briefly about what brings you to counselling, ask any questions you may have and get a sense of whether working together feels right.
